STREETSBORO, OHIO (April 4, 2012) – There are several tests we perform at Power Wizard electric fence energizers to help ensure we release quality energizers that last. Below are brief descriptions of our cold and hot temperature, impact, field and other testing procedures.
COLD TEMPERATRUE TESTING AT -30 °F
To push the electronics below their cold temperature limit we perform a cold temperature test all the way down to -30 °F (62 °F below freezing) in our environmental chamber.

HOT TEMPERATRUE TESTING AT 190 °F
To push the electronics beyond their upper limit we test at 190 °F (22 °F below the boiling temperature of water). This extreme high temperature is far above the heat deflection temperature of the enclosure plastic so they may exhibit permanent deformation as expected. However, it is the electronics that we are testing and we will not release a Power Wizard energizer unless the electronics will work at 190 °F.

IMPACT TESTING
To identify where we need to add ribs, gussets, or thicken the plastic enclosure walls we perform impact tests on our Power Wizard energizers to protect from accidental drops. After the tests we sometimes add a grid rib pattern and retest to prove the increased strength of the enclosures. Because plastic is weaker as the temperature decreases we place the enclosures in the freezer (32 °F) for 4 hours prior to the impact test.

FIELD TESTING
Field testing - We do not solely rely on lab testing. To ensure our energizers work in real world applications we perform field testing. We set up temporary labs in the field (sometimes in an old chicken coop!), and use equipment such as Tektronix oscilloscopes, high voltage probes, and laptops for data collection.

SOLAR TESTING
We tested a PW100S connected to our test fence at our Streetsboro, Ohio facility (one of the least sunny parts of the US). It has had the same battery in it for 2.5 years and continues to work with snow on the solar panel even though we get very few sunny days from November to March.

OTHER TESTING
We also perform drop tests, strain relief tests, dielectric strength tests, output characteristics tests, and other such tests before offering a Power Wizard energizer to our customers. Our repair and engineering department share a repair common data base which allows us to track the faults and make product improvements.
All this testing is why we guarantee all of our Power Wizard energizers with a three year warranty that includes lightning damage. For more information about Power Wizard branded energizers, visit www.PowerWizardInc.com or call customer service at 1-800-866-2161.
