"I got the PW-1 polywire to put down the pasture, to make a winter paddock for our stallion and his mares. We put 2 strands in 2 rolls about 10 feet apart, it took about 1 hour, the stallion on one side and the geldings on the other. It worked so good, and is so easy to use I bought 10 more rolls, to put around the top fence on all the pastures. The horses don't go near it.

Power Wizard D-Cell / 12V Battery Operated Electric Fence Energizer –
Perfect for Remote Containment

If the fenced area is away from easy access to an electric source, but close enough for frequent monitoring, battery operated fence chargers offer a viable solution. Keep in mind that battery-operated fence chargers require frequent battery changes, in some cases on a weekly basis. It is recommended that when using a battery-operated fence charger, you have at least one back up, rechargeable 12V battery to ensure consistent electrical current throughout the length of the fence. When using a battery-operated fence charger, you will also need to check the power levels more frequently than with a plug-in model.
